Event and Portrait photography are now benefiting from the progress made by
dye sublimation printers. Not only
do these printers revolutionize the photo portrait and event industry, but they are incredibly affordable for what they do, and for the income they can generate.
|
|
|
Today we will be looking at the four best dye sublimation printers on the market:
Mitsubishi CP-3020DU,
Kodak 1400,
Kodak 9810 and
Sony
UPD70A.
All
four dye sub printers offer print sizes in 8x10 and 8x12 as well as A4 for the
Kodak 1400. All of these printers also offer the possibility to
print multiple images on one sheet.
The print quality of all these dye sublimation printers is excellent, with effective
pixels of 300 to 314 depending on the model and about 16.7 million
colors per dot.
All
of them use dyesub technology, which means no ink cartridge, no
chemicals, but only a ribbon and the paper which always come together
in a pack. All the prints are water resistant and supposed to last “a
lifetime”.

The
Kodak 9810
is certainly the most expensive of all 4 dye sub printers, but it is
also the only printer that offers roll-fed printing, which means
less waste and a much faster output. The 3 other printers come
with a sheet feeder for 50 sheets and 100 sheets for the Sony. |

In
conclusion
8x10 and 8x12 are definitely
the sizes of choice for portrait and event photography, the
format that everyone enjoys to display at home.
To be able to be equipped with a dye sublimation printer compact enough to be
taken on almost any location (as long as you can find power) is
an incredible advantage, equipped with a good quality digital
camera and a good laptop, you can now produce in minutes your
event pictures.
Do not
forget to add extra value to your image by displaying your final
picture into a folder as by example the
TAP Buckeye
which
will cost you as low as $0.72 or
TAP PF-20
folder
which will only cost you $0.20. The result will give you for
about $2.00 an image that you can easily sell -depending on your
market- for $20 and up. |
