The New complete solution of Kiosks and Stations from Mitsubishi Photo Imaging

During the PMA show in February 2006 in Orlando Florida, Mitsubishi Photo Imaging introduced two new machines, a kiosk and a station: The Mitsubishi DPS Kiosk 7000 and the Mitsubishi DPS Click 5000. Both will only start shipping late next month but we offer you an exclusive review of these two exceptional machines.

 

Mitsubishi DPS Kiosk 7000

This is a stand-alone Kiosk also called a self-service instant digital photo processing system. If you are looking to offer easy and convenient instant digital photo processing to your customers, this is the ideal solution. It is equipped with a new user friendly touch screen operation system, which allows anyone to quickly access their images and use the incorporated photo editing and enhancement features. It accepts most of today’s latest digital media and Bluetooth® wireless technology compatibility. It also allows you to offer prepayment cards to customers, gift cards, or offer discounted rates when they purchase volume printing with the cards. The Kiosk can be connected to up to three Mitsubishi printers like the CP-9550DW, CP-9000DW, or CP-3020DU (see below). An internet web photo album is also an optional service. Exceptionally compact, the system can be accessed on a countertop or mounted on an optional pedestal base.

The still available Mitsubishi Kiosk Printing System is a very good machine which offers most of the functionality of the 7000 (Bluetooth, prepayment cards and photo editing software) and is on promotion right now (click here to learn more).

Mitsubishi DPS Click 5000

This is a new high speed, high volume digital printing station with a super-small footprint and a large 17-inch SXGA touch screen which, with its easy-to-use, menu-driven touch screen guide makes operating this station exceptionally fast and easy.

The Mitsubishi DPS Click 5000 is network capable, which means that you can link several stations or a computer to it.

It accepts a variety of digital media and incorporates a wide range of photo editing and enhancement features like personalized index prints and Photo click CD with viewing software and Image editing and enhancement capabilities.

As always, the Mitsubishi DPS Click 5000 accepts a wide variety of digital media and allows you to connect up to 5 Mitsubishi printers for greater capacity, which will allow you to print for example to: Two CP-9000DW for a higher volume of 4x6, one CP-9550DW to print 5x7 and two CP-3020DU, one to print your 8x10 and one to print your 8x12. This is a complete solution which will allow to compete against a silver halide minilab without investing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Financing is also available, allowing you to purchase the setup you need while making affordable monthly payments easily covered by immediate profit.

Price per print is always a concern, however, Mitsubishi is almost unbeatable and you can buy your prints for a total cost (paper+ribbon) of as low as $0.19 for an 4x6 (that is if you are shopping at www.ImageProInternational.com, www.DyeSubPrinter.com, or www.Megapixel.fr). A 5x7 can cost you as low as $0.52, an 8x10: $1.29 and finally an 8x12: $1.52.

 

The different printers available for your Kiosk or Station

The Mitsubishi CP-9000DW is a professional photo printer which is a fast, reliable and heavy duty machine. It prints either 3.5 inches x 5 inches prints (9 cm x 13 cm) or 4 inches x 6 inches (10 cm x 15cm). This makes it the perfect printer for Kiosk system where 95% of your business is 4x6 (10x15) prints. With such a low cost per print it makes it possible to resell your prints between $0.25 to $0.45 depending of your location and the competition around you.

The Mitsubishi CP-9550DW looks exactly like the CP-9000DW and offers the same quality in reference to speed, reliability and professionalism. It prints in 3.5 inches x 5 inches prints (9 cm x 13 cm) or 4 inches x 6 inches (10 cm x 15cm), but also in 5 inches x 7 inches (13 cm x 18cm) and in 6 inches by 9 inches (15 cm x 23 cm) which are both the professional photographers favorite sizes (the second and largest format is growing in popularity among the pros). Even if the price per print are not as important to the professional photographer as they are to the retail market, the attractive prices are a good surprise mainly when it is comes with high quality prints.

The Mitsubishi CP-3020DU offers the largest format in the family of the Mitsubishi printers with both 8 inches x 10 inches (20 cm x 25 cm) and 8 inches x 12 inches (20 cm x 30 cm), available in both brilliant and matte. Those two sizes (even if more expensive) offer very nice profit margins for both retail and professional markets.
